We started the day early today by making our way to Trekpad. We darted two Sable bulls and a Nyala. We relocated them to different herds within the farm. After the darting we had an amazing breakfast provided by Trekpad. We then traveled into Thabazimbi and attended the wild game auction. Here we saw Eland, Springbok, Blazebok, Impala, Kudu, Wildebeest, and many more. It was a very unique experience to see how the game was held. We are the first class to have the opportunity to have this experience.

Then we looked at the crop production around Trekpad. We saw their sunflowers in the early stages of production as well as their lost crops due to flooding. While looking at the sunflowers a large rain shower came in and we became soaked! This led to a very muddy and fun ride back to the main camp at Trekpad. We attempted to dry off before going to see the Afrikaner cattle. We learned that the Afrikaner cattle are very adapted to the hardy conditions that South Africa offers.

After this, our host Peiter took us to his museum. He showed all of the items he collected from his family generations before him. This was a very nice experience and showed how similar some of the items are to those in the US. He then showed us the church that his family built in Trekpad. All three of his daughters were married there, his grandkids were baptized there, and it is a very special place for him and his family. We ended our night with having a traditional braai, which is grilling meat over an open fire. While we were waiting for supper, we attempted to teach line dancing and swing dancing to our South African hosts. This made for a lot of laughs and entertainment! All of our meals were amazing and we greatly appreciated all that our hosts did for us at Trekpad!
